From the inside out

A thousand times I've failed

Still your mercy remains

And should I stumble again

Still I'm caught in your grace

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades

Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

My heart and my soul, I give You control

Consume me from the inside out Lord

Let justice and praise, become my embrace

To love You from the inside out

Your will above all else, my purpose remains

The art of losing myself in bringing you praise

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades

Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

My heart, my soul, Lord I give you control

Consume me from the inside out Lord

Let justice and praise become my embrace

To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades

Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise

From the inside out, O my soul cries out

My Soul cries out to You

My Soul cries out to You

to You, to You

My heart, my soul, Lord I give you control

Consume me from the inside out Lord

Let justice and praise become my embrace

To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades

Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise

From the inside out, O my soul cries out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades

Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise

From the inside out, O my soul cries out

From the inside out, O my soul cries out

From the inside out, O my soul cries out.

An Understanding Heart

1 Kings 3:7-9 NLT

"Now, O Lord my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn't know his way around. And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted! Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong.  For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?"

In this passage Solomon asks for wisdom, pure and simple; wisdom to know the difference between right and wrong to be able to govern God's chosen people.  Apparently God had asked Solomon what he wanted and his answer revealed his true heart.  He acknowledged his inadequacy in his dealings with the people, as to how to rule over them, and he recognized that he will need knowledge to know how to rule the kingdom.  Solomon was wise in asking for wisdom, for God added to it riches and fame! God also enlarged his heart to be able to understand the people to help them effectively.

I want to ask for wisdom and more of God.  In verse 7, "but I am like a little child who doesn't know his way around." This is so me, a little child roaming around God's house without knowing what to do.  Applying this request to my life is so great, that I can know more, yearn more of Him, to want to seek Him, to be content with just Him, and be filled with joy because of Him.

Lord, help me to want wisdom, to want more of you, to yearn for you, to want to seek and deepen my relationship with you.  By praying for me to want more of you, I will not be satisfied with just asking for wisdom or you, I want to always ask to want more of you.  Let not a day or moment go by that I am just satisfied with what I have.  But Lord, humble me enough to accept Grace, humble me enough to know that YOU ARE ENOUGH.  Soften and enlarge my heart to love the way you love, to serve the way you want me to serve, to be who you want me to be.  Every person you created is as valuble to you because you created them.  Let your light shine through, give me the wisdom, ears and heart to hear your voice, to be a light to your people.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

Give me an understanding heart.
